Get into the Classroom

Regional Training Programme for Classroom Skills

Developing a new cohort of staff for schools

Are you looking to start your career in the classroom? If so, Principal Resourcing’s proven bespoke training programme can help you realise your new career in the classroom.

We have developed our ‘Get into the Classroom’ education training scheme to work towards developing a new cohort of Cover Supervisors. Our experienced trainers turn your transferable skills into careers in education.

We provide free training for people without previous classroom training experience to improve the quality of our region’s education. We also offer you added training and tools to enable you to develop as a classroom practitioner and enhance your behaviour management skills.

What is a cover supervisor?

Cover supervision occurs when no active teaching is taking place and involves the supervision of pre-set learning activities in the absence of a teacher:

  1. Supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy.
  2. Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
  3. Responding to any questions from pupils about processes and procedures.
  4. Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures.
  5. Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
  6. Reporting back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.

Have you got what it takes to work as a Cover Supervisor?

If you think that you need qualifications and previous classroom experience to work in education, think again. Our friendly and dedicated trainers take any transferable skills you have and build on them to give you a successful future in developing young minds.

You may have skills that you never knew you had. If you’ve worked in a caring environment or have previous experience working with groups of young people, a career in education could be just around the corner.

We don’t ask for any formal qualifications, but you do need the following:

  • Confidence to manage a classroom of pupils.
  • A passion for developing the minds of young people.
  • A commitment to complete our online and in-person training sessions.
