As an Education agency, we only accept ‘Child Workforce’ DBS checks

Principal Resourcing only provide work in education settings with children, therefore all candidates require an enhanced ‘Child Workforce’ DBS, with children’s barred list.

This must be carried out by Principal Resourcing or if through a third party, must be for the same type or role and on the update service.

In line with the Police Act 1997 and DBS eligibility guidance, as an agency we do not accept Child and Adult Workforce DBS Checks. These checks would only be eligible for candidates who regularly carry out work with both children, and vulnerable adults in the care sector. As an agency, we are not permitted to access information found on an Adult Workforce Check

Over the recent months an increasing number of candidates are coming to us with ‘Child and Adult’ DBS checks which sometimes also include adult barred lists with no intention of working in the care sector.

As an agency worker, please be cautious if asked to complete a ‘Child and Adult’ workforce DBS, as this check should only be carried out if you intend to work with adults requiring personal care or those who need support with everyday activities. For work with adults in colleges and universities, you only need and Adult DBS if you are responsible for their personal care.

If you are working within the ‘Child and Adult’ workforce through an agency, please ensure your contract reflects the different roles you will be carrying out also. If your contract says ‘Teacher’ your DBS should say ‘Child workforce’

We also advise our clients to act with caution should you be provided with a ‘Child and Adult’ DBS from an agency candidate.
