Who would have thought this team of twelve were amateurs?
The twelve, including nine from Yorkshire, all of whom have been touched by cancer, took part in the amateur horse race in aid of MacMillan.
We are proud to announce that, with our logo attached to her silks for good luck, our sponsored rider Camilla performed beautifully on her thoroughbred and could have been mistaken for a professional.
Camilla Parsonage raised a staggering £26,000 for Macmillan and collectively the twelve participants of ‘Macmillan Race of their lives’ raised over £200,000.
The winner of the annual Race of their Lives was the youngest rider in the race – teenager Louis Pern of Helmsley who rode Hartswood to a four-length win.
Rain was threatening as the horses and riders made their way from the parade ring to the start but held off.
Everyone including Camilla put their hearts into the race after months of preparing and practice, around their usual everyday commitments.
A huge well done to all involved.
